I was excited to read Fundamism: Connecting to Life Through F.U.N. because I have been familiar with Paul Long's charitable efforts and FUN antics here in Kansas City area where I live. Paul is one half of the Cat Suit Guys...which means he is not afraid to lay it out there and enjoy himself. I am going to be honest this book has blown me away! I was not expecting to be so touched by Long's insights and stories. I think I was just expecting a "feel good" how to book...like all of the rest. BOY was I so wrong...in a HUGE, Life changing way!A little background on me. I have been married for almost 26 and I am a mom of 5 children (ages 25, 24, 22, 19, and 18) and have gone from homeschooling all 5 to putting them all in public school and then throwing my self ALL IN to the PTA mom life then I started working in the library at our local high school after substitute teaching for a couple of years. After 5 years "in the workforce" I decided to resign and to start a business doing what I LOVE- making personalized gifts (homemade cards, t-shirts, artwork, jewelry, etc). Then this past year my life as I knew it was turned upside down. Through several health issues (both mine and my family), the death of my father, and just life in general I was just barely getting by on a daily basis. With some recent success in my health issues and just starting to pull myself up by my bootstraps I have been coming out of my self imposed protective cocoon recently. This book hit home for me and resonates with my life at the exact moment I need it!The stories and advice that Long weaves through Fundamism: Connecting to Life Through F.U.N., has the feel of one of your good friends sitting across the table from you at your local watering hole or coffee shop helping you through a tough time. Not only does Long share real (even if it is embarrassing or unflattering...remember the Cat Suits?LOL) stories he also offers real and practical steps to help get you where you want to be!I pre-ordered the Kindle version of Fundamism: Connecting to Life Through F.U.N. and definitely plan on getting paperback copies to give as holiday gifts. With a forward written by the Kansas City Chief's Travis Kelce that is very insightful and authentic and tons of practical tips offered by Long that you can implement immediately this book will become your go to book for long lasting FUN. I am not going to lie...there have been a few times that I wanted to stop reading because Long's words were so convicting and pointed to areas where I thought was doing well already but realized I was not fully understanding someone else's perspective. I am looking forward to changing the status quo so that I can move into more deep and satisfying relationships with those I love and move from victim to victor.

I'm giving this book three and a half stars, not because I don't think it's a good book, it is, but it is more about how to live a good life than a book about having fun. There are a few tips about having fun, but the bulk of the book is a self-help read, which wasn't exactly what I was expecting or looking for based on the title.If you are looking for a good self help read, this definitely gives good advice on living a fulfilling life. You can get a few tips on having fun, but don't expect most of the book to be this way.

I have ready many personal/career development books over the last 20 years and all of them have provided a useful nugget or two of information I could apply to my professional life. Fundamism: Connecting to Life Through F.U.N. is the first book that I felt from start to finish is applicable to life in general and not just my professional life. The focus on finding joy and adding FUN to our life is applicable to all aspects of one’s life and while reading it Paul Long’s message always feels authentic and that he lives what he preaches everyday rather than it being just words on a page. I hope this is just the beginning and that more books will follow. I highly recommend this book to everyone and not just those looking for professional enrichment.

This book was amazing! Paul does an awesome job reminding us how to bring FUN back in our lives. I have a very stressful job as an EMT, Firefighter, and ED Tech and somedays just do not go well. Paul reminded me of how important it is to keep up beat no matter what life throws at us. I laughed, laughed hard, cried, cried harder and related to him on many levels. I think anyone who reads this book will be delighted with what Paul has to teach us. He gets us thinking and smiling. Thank you Paul for writing this book for me, my coworkers whom I will be buying this book for, and for everyone who is lucky enough to be reminded to bring FUN back into our daily lives! I can't wait for your next book!!

“If you don’t like your experience in life, change your life experiences!”Woah. It seems so simple when it’s simply put by Paul. Paul’s fun and creative way of inducing thoughts and ideas to make life more fun is such a breath of fresh air! I can’t wait to read the rest of his book! So far, it’s funny, eye opening and honest. Paul gives glimpses into his own life and how his outlook has shaped and formed who he is and how you can incorporate those same fundamentals to shape a positive outlook on your own life! Need encouragement on how to improve your life experiences? This is your handbook to do so!

I picked up the book last night and thought I would just skim through the first chapter and then get on with the rest of my evening (laundry, dishes etc..), two hours later the laundry still sat there and I had tears rolling down my face. Yes, tears!! Some from laughter, some from sadness and some from a bit of self reflection. This book embodies so much passion and enthusiasm for life that you just can’t help but feel optimistic and enthused about creating more fun in your own life. Everyone could learn a thing or two about walking through life more engaged and present and actually living life to its fullest potential. This book challenges people to become who they desire to be, who they are meant to be. All in all, this book will leave you with the fundamentals and energy to become the very best version of yourself!
